Sound effects & overlay audio

Set one consistent level for transition sounds, graphic cues, and audio in uploaded video overlays.

#What Sound effects controls

Open Audio and use the Sound effects fader. It controls the effects mix across the video, including transition sounds, whooshes, graphic cues, and the audio of uploaded video overlays.

An image overlay has no audio. A video overlay with an audio track plays it during the overlay’s time window. If that video loops, its audio loops with it.

#Set a comfortable effects level

0 dB uses the designed effects levels. Negative values reduce them and positive values boost them. The far-left Sound effects position mutes the effects mix.

This is an overall control. There is no separate per-overlay audio fader in Edit overlay. If one uploaded overlay needs a different balance from all other effects, prepare that source video’s audio level before uploading it.

  1. Find an audible effect

Play across a transition, animated graphic, or video overlay with sound.

  2. Adjust Sound effects

Lower the fader if the cue competes with the narration. Raise it only if the effect is difficult to hear at normal listening volume.

  3. Check other effects

The fader is shared, so review a few different cues and any video overlays before rendering.

#Why a catalog preview may be silent

The small library preview cards are muted. To judge a graphic, transition, or overlay’s sound in context, add it to the video and use the main preview.

If the main preview is silent, check the browser or device volume, then check Sound effects and whether the uploaded video actually contains audio. Use the finished render to confirm the final mix.
