Saving, undo & reset

Understand when edits save, recover from a mistake, and restore the original timeline when needed.

On this page

#How changes are saved

The editor saves changes as you make them; there is no separate Save project button. Media replacements save when the action finishes, trims save when you release their handles, and caption text saves when you choose Save or press Enter.

Graphic text previews while you type and saves after a brief pause. Overlay inspector fields save when you finish the field, such as by clicking outside it. Give the editor a moment to finish before closing the page, especially after a large upload or replacement.

An error message means the action may not have saved. Read it, retry the specific edit when appropriate, and verify the result before moving on.

#Undo and redo

Use Undo and Redo beside the timeline controls to move through edit history. Their disabled state tells you when there is no available step in that direction.

On a keyboard, use Command/Ctrl+Z for Undo and Command/Ctrl+Shift+Z for Redo. Ctrl+Y also performs Redo. When you are typing in an input, normal text-editing shortcuts take priority.

Undo is useful for a replacement that did not fit, a mistaken trim, or an overlay removed from the timeline. It does not replace downloading a completed render that you want to keep.

#Restore the original build

Reset all edits opens a confirmation. Reset everything restores the original timeline, discarding your trims, swaps, caption edits, and graphic changes.

The reset itself can be undone. Use it when you intentionally want to return to the first cut, rather than to fix one bad scene. For a single mistake, Undo or a targeted replacement is easier to review.

#Timeline changes and saved renders

Editing the timeline does not rewrite a video already in Renders. Start another render when you are ready to capture the updated edit.

The Render button is disabled when there are no changes since the latest completed render. Use Renders to watch or download that existing version.
